Sky Sommers

USA Today bestselling indie author

Sky mostly writes retold fairytales with dry humour where secrets are peeled back like onions. Sometimes, in her standalones, she likes to make you choose, depending on your disposition (optimist vs pessimist) - coz the path that awaits depends on the decisions we take. She lives in Tallinn, Estonia, travels a lot, but less now that her kid has gone to school.

Besides fairytales, Sky keeps experimenting with different genres: myths&legends; steampunk; post-apocalyptic scifi; quirky fantasy romance and alternative history to name a few that are currently in the works.

Once Upon A Name

A collection of clean quirky, strange and out right unusual short stories collecting donations for Book Aid International to support literacy.

My story, Yumiko’s revenge is probably the most gruesome I’ll ever write, but it’s all about the blood-lapping magic boots. (Hey, it takes a lot of energy transporting people from A to B and cleaning up their messes, so yes, the boots take blood and life-years as payment and resurface again in Cinders: Necessary Evil and Life&Death: The Goddess of Light. And Ash: Crooked Fates as well.)

"/.../ a story so different to anything I've read before. /.../ Belle, Alice, Puss, Oz, Cinderella, and so many more, manipulated, intertwined to fit the narrative and what is the narrative, you might question? Well... it's all wound up in a pair of crystal shoes, sentient shoes which exact a price for donning them, not always a price worth paying but, oh well, if you WANT the shoes, which everyone does, for different reasons of course, you better know what you're letting yourself into! Seamlessly flowing from one to the next, I applaude Ms Sommers for a very fresh take on fairytales, a very fresh take on capturing a storyline and going all out with it! Familiar scenes completely turned on it's head, characters completely made anew, and the result? A very entertaining, albeit very unusual read!"

Tales of the Dragons

How can you break a curse when the only remedy is an accidental True Love's Kiss?

They say 7 mysterious princes rule the Dragon Realm. Nobody knows for sure. Their kingdom is hidden and access is by invitation only. Headcount per prince is...more than anyone should have, they say. Scales as black as their souls, they say. "They" say quite a few things. Including about an unbreakable curse plaguing the dragon princes, none of whom can find love.

But what if they could? What if accidental True Love's Kisses could be orchestrated?

Read this enchanting last instalment in the Mirrors-Shoes-Dragons short story sets and find out.

The stories in this set include:

  1. To Snare a Prince - a Hans&Greta spin-off (previously in the Enchanted Forests anthology);
  2. To Find a Queen - where dark elves try to prevent Greta's rise to queendom (previously in the Twice Upon a Name anthology);
  3. To Steal a Kiss - where Greta breaks the dragon curse (previously in the Enchanted Flames anthology);
  4. To Host a Ball - a 12 Dancing Princesses retelling (previously in the Enchanted Skies anthology);
  5. To Catch a Thief - a Rapunzel / Snow White mashup retelling (previously in the Third Name's a Charm anthology).

These short stories link to the author’s other works, but are related standalones that can be read separately as small soundbites.
